Marine F.C. 1 - 2 Colne F.C.

Following the reds' hard-fought 2-1 win away at Marine on Tuesday evening, the gaffer paid homage to his players on-the-back of Saturday's winning start to the campaign, taking all three points away at Dunston. "The feel good factor in football is the most important element in any squad and at the moment we are displaying really high levels of this," said Rooney. "The players last night backed up the weekend's performance by increasing our level of intent. Our energy and desire to out work the opponent was very high, both on and off the ball." After going down to ten men midway through the second half, the reds rallied through as a group, fighting for every ball, which pleased the gaffer. "The most pleasing part was the endeavor that was displayed by the whole group to see out the game for over 35 minutes with ten men." As Rooney's men took out a 2-0 lead into the break, courtesy of two fantastic Jamie Cooke goals, the gaffer was full of praise for the Liverpudlian. "Overall, the quality of our play and the way Jamie took both goals were a joy to watch. It’s key now moving forward that our preparations and our standards remain very high throughout the whole squad and that we continue to improve."
