Rooney told CFC Media “I’m delighted Billy has committed. Having watched highlights from last season I was keen for Billy to be part of the group. His pace and work rate gives us another dimension and, along with his versatility, it means we have options to change shape easily during games.”
Chairman Ryan Haigh added “I’m pleased we’ve managed to finalise things with Billy, he’s a great lad both on and off the pitch with the quality to change a game.”
“The added bonus is that his Grandad is also back. He made himself a fan’s favourite in his own right!”
