Here’s To 2022: A Note From Our Chairman

Writer's picture: Ben MetcalfeBen Metcalfe

As we enter 2022 I think it’s fair to say on reflection, we haven’t reproduced the consistency we’ve shown previously.

I’d like to thank Nathan Rooney for his time and efforts during his tenure. He is undoubtedly a very determined individual who’s professionalism, tactical knowledge and attention to detail brought a new dimension to Colne Football Club that I’m sure Jon and his team will only enhance.

I’m delighted we have managed to attract someone of Jon’s calibre to Colne. We had one target for the job and once we met him and Steve, I was even more convinced this was an appointment we had to make.

In his previous role, Jon secured promotion with Radcliffe Borough. He arrives at Colne with both knowledge of the division and players in and around this level which will undoubtedly push us forward.

With a change at the top it’s been a remarkably busy period behind the scenes as we attempt to strengthen the squad.

I feel we are making real progress with some quality footballers and I fully expect us to add to our squad in the near future. Undoubtedly we have been unlucky with injuries lately, that’s just something we couldn’t legislate for and especially in key positions.

The local community and improving facilities is upmost in the clubs thinking and progression both on and off the pitch. Our plans for the redevelopment of the stadium are on-going and with only a few more hurdles to overcome, I’m confident we will have some exciting news in the near future.
