Phil Brown's recruitment drive is up and running.

After meeting the squad Thursday night, the newly appointed Reds manager has wasted no time in adding quality and experience to his squad for next season.

First up, Centre Midfielder Craig Carney (29) joins from Bamber Bridge as Player Coach.

The former FC UTD, Matlock and Lancaster midfielder commented “I am looking forward to the new season and a fresh start. I know Phil very well having worked under him as a player and having had previous successes individually and collectively with the teams he’s been involved with.

It’s a slightly different role for me but I’m grateful for the opportunity he is trusting me with as a player/coach which will allow me to support the team and assist with recruitment, coaching and general input.

We both know how each other operates and I appreciate the standards he demands as a player and also as a member of staff.”

Secondly, joining the club as Player Assistant is Glenn Steel.

The former AFC Flyde, Lancaster and Bamber Bridge defender said “I’m absolutely delighted to accept Browny’s offer for the role of Assistant Manager. From 19 seasons of NPL football I already know Colne is a fantastic club with a great fan base. Joining in a staff role whilst also being able to contribute in a playing capacity is very exciting and I look forward to meeting the fans in pre-season”

With the recruitment drive now in full flow it won’t be long before Manger Phil Brown looks to add extra quality to his squad.

Chairman Ryan Haigh added: “We are determined to give Phil and the staff the best possible squad for the coming season. I’m confident we will have at least another couple of exciting signings to follow!”.
