Colne Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of ex Clitheroe FC midfielder and Captain, Charlie Russell.
Russell, who started for NWCFL side Squires Gate as a 17 year old, went on to sign for Stockport County playing two seasons in the Conference North, before signing for Lancaster City. Russell signed for Clitheroe at the start of last season and Captained them to an impressive 6th position prior to the leagues curtailment in March. Head Coach Nathan Rooney commented “I’m delighted to get this signing over the line. Charlie has received offers from higher up the pyramid, so to secure his signature is a major boost to the Club. He adds experience and a voice to the group and his work rate is phenomenal.“ Russell added “I’ve trained with the lads for the last few weeks and been really impressed with everything I’ve seen. Everything about the club shows their ambition and I can’t wait to get started” Charlie becomes the 15th signing of Nathan Rooney’s reign and with the Reds starting their FA Cup campaign on September 1st, the Red Revolution continues.
