Rooney appointed by The Reds

Colne F.C. are delighted to announce that Nathan Rooney has agreed to join the club as Head Coach, on a two year deal.

Nathan was the outstanding candidate through the interview processes, and comes highly recommended having spent the best part of the past two seasons in League Two with both Crawley Town and Carlisle United. Prior to joining Crawley Town, Nathan was the head of the youth at Fleetwood Town, which involved managing both the youth and the development squad for a period of 3 years. From his time at Fleetwood, Nathan is aware of players such as Alex Curran, Brad Knox, Mamadou Djabi and many others who are currently plying their trade at this level.

A UEFA Pro License candidate, Nathan has already spent time learning from coaches such as Gabriele Cioffi, Stephen Pressley and Uwe Rosler. Prior to joining Fleetwood, Nathan had already spent time working at the Blackburn Rovers academy, and despite being a young coach himself, has already shown awareness on how to manage both youth prospects and professionals alike.

Ryan Haigh, our Chairman had this to say about the signing:

“We couldn’t turn down an opportunity to have such a bright young coach head up our team for the next season, and we are really pleased to have Nathan on board.

"The fact that Nathan, being a local lad, is excited and willing to join Colne is both a coup for the club but also shows the character of Nathan, in that he shares our vision and ambition for progress”.

“The players will no doubt be keen to start working alongside someone that has already gotten some experience in the leagues, and I’m sure that Nathan’s professionalism will filter down throughout the whole club from the moment we get things up and running again."

Nathan will now be looking forward to league announcements, and looking forward to preparing the pre-season thereafter.

We are sure that all the fans will no doubt welcome this news, and we will be looking forward to having a more detailed interview to share with you all in the near future.
